I believe that finding a counsellor that you are comfortable working with is vital to the process and outcome of your counselling.
I offer all potential new clients an optional FREE 30-minute initial telephone consultation. This gives us both the opportunity to see how it feels to work alongside each other and determine if how I work is a good fit for your needs. It is also an opportunity for you to talk briefly about your reasons for seeking counselling and the difference you want the counselling to make. You are under no obligation to work with me as your counsellor if you do not feel I am the right counsellor for you. If you would like to book a FREE 30-minute initial telephone consultation, you can contact me by phone on 07855 059 964
If I am unable to take your call please leave a voicemail message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

I practice from a professional therapy room located in Harrogate: Parkside House, 17 East Parade, Harrogate HG1 5LF
The venue is within 5 minutes walk of Harrogate bus and train stations, on the left of East Parade, just down from the Odeon cinema roundabout going towards Asda. Both the Victoria and the Odeon Cinema car parks are close by, or there is on-street 'disc-parking' along the streets behind East Parade.
I am easily accessible to people coming from Knaresborough, Leeds, Ripon, Skipton, Wetherby and York.
My therapy room is up two flights of stairs and there is no lift. Access issues should not be a barrier to counselling, though, so I will do my utmost to find a disabled accessible venue nearby if required.
Each session is 60 minutes.
Face to face individual counselling is about two people sitting in a quiet room together talking; there may also be periods of silence. Counselling is a safe space where you can be yourself and feel listened to and supported.
The first session is an assessment session. This will give us both a chance to see how it feels to work alongside each other and how to proceed. It will be an opportunity for you to assess what you want to achieve out of counselling. It will also be an opportunity for me to gather some information about you and the reasons that have brought you to counselling. If we agree to work together we can decide the number of sessions. I believe that finding a counsellor that you are comfortable working with is vital to the process and outcome of your counselling therefore you are under no obligation to work with me if you do not feel I am the right person for you. Equally, it might be appropriate, if I feel I am not the right counsellor for you, to signpost you to an alternative counsellor or service.
Counselling sessions are normally on a weekly basis, on the same day and time each week. However, some clients choose to reduce the frequency of their sessions before ending their counselling. This is something we can look at together when we review the progress of your counselling.
It is difficult to say how many sessions you will need. Some clients feel they only need 4 or 5 sessions, whilst others may come for much longer. Of course, it is entirely up to you and you might decide to see how you get on session by session.
All missed sessions will be charged at the full session fee.
Cancelled sessions, with less than 48 hours' notice, are charged at the full session fee. The cancellation policy applies to holidays, any work commitments or illness. In instances where you need to contact me between sessions to cancel or rearrange appointments, you can call or text me on 07855 059 964. If I am unable to take your call, please leave a message. Calls and messages will be responded to as soon as possible within my normal operating hours.
I will give you advance notice of holiday or any other absences. Sessions missed due to my absence will not be chargeable.
If you are going to be late for a session, please call / text ahead to let me know wherever possible. Any session that commences after the appointment time cannot be extended beyond the agreed finish time.
